It's been a minute since we've had any Kenyan coffees in the house and we're so happy to share TWO with you guys. This one's sweet enough to write home about! We encourage you to try both our Nyeri & Giakanja Kenyan coffees and let us know your favorite.
This coffee is brought to us by the Giakanja Coffee Farmers Society in Kenya. Giakanja spun out from the larger Tetu Union in year 2000, after 50 years of petitioning for independence. Since receiving additional training & support over the last 10 years, the GCFS has grown into an ambitious group of farmers with a focus on sophisticated processing with motivated members under good management. (John, farm manager, is pictured in the hat among the raised beds.) They've been offering some of the region's highest premiums, year over year.
Once harvested, these coffee cherries are pulped, floated through channels, soaked for 12-24 hours, skin dried, then moved to raised beds for drying.
